Blackjack

Blackjack is an easy game to learn.

The object of the game is to get closest to 21 without going over. This game is between you and the dealer even if there are others at the table with you. Each player plays against only the dealer. This means that there can be more than one winner in a hand.

The dealer deals cards to all the players and himself, and then proceeds to play against each player individually. Player 'one' gets a chance to 'hit' 'stand' 'split' or 'fold' his hand until he is satisfies he has the best hand possible with what was dealt him. Play then moves on to the next player and this process is repeated.

The dealer is the bank and must match every bet made by the players. The dealer deals out two cards to each player, one down and one up, ending with himself and play starts to the person left of the dealer. This player then decides how to play his hand and plays it out until either he or the dealer wins. If the player wins, he is paid out right then, and if the dealer wins he collects player one's chips and moves on to the next player repeating the play until all play on that round has ended. He then reshuffles the deck and begins again.

Blackjack Strategy

Each card is given a value. All numeric cards are the value of their number. For example, a 3 of diamonds has a value of 3. All face cards have a value of ten, and the ace is used as a 1 or an 11 depending on the hand dealt.

The dealer must hit on 16 and stand on 17. The player may hit at any time giving him a slight edge in some circumstances.

In the event of a tie ( push ) the dealer wins the round. In online casinos this rule may change and the push is considered a no pay no collect.

A split is when you draw two similar cards such as two 2's. To split, turn up your hole card and separate them so the dealer can then deal you cards to play. Only one split card is played at a time and is played until the hand is either won, lost or pushed.

The dealer deals the next card face down and you then decide how to proceed on that hand. When you are done, just say stand and go to the next split card. When play has ended on this hand then the dealer goes on to the next player.

A Blackjack is when you or the dealer is dealt a face card and an ace. A ten and and ace, even though it's the same value does not make up a blackjack, it is a 21. If both you and the dealer get a Blackjack, the dealer wins. Blackjack pays 3:2
